Animal transportation

 

You have to inform Your agent about Your wish to transport an animal at time of purchasing the ticket. For carriage are accepted such animals as cats and dogs, and the other small domestic animals and birds. Birds and animals are accepted to for a carriage only according to a previous agreement with the a Carrier. For animal transportation You need to have a veterinary certificate and permission of departure-arrival (from-to Ukraine).
Don’t be surprised if Your agent will ask You to measure Your pet in three dimensions. Animals are transported only in baggage space of the plane in the specific container for animal carriage and the transportation is charged as excess baggage. The animal transportation in the cabin is prohibited except the carriage of dog-guides.
In exceptional cases the airlines may allow the animal transportation in the cabin if the animals weight including the container is less than 5 kg.
As a rule the airlines don’t provide the containers for animal transportation. You’ll need to buy the container in advance, it need to be up the quality of airlines.
The animal and bird transportation on the passengers planes as the baggage to the Great Britain is forbidden.
Wild animals and birds are transported only in cargo aircrafts. 


Weapon transportation

 

You have to inform Your agent at time of purchasing the ticket about Your intentions of weapon transportation. Weapontransportationinthecabinisprohibited. At airline’s discretion the weapon can be transported only at the specific locking metallic container in the specific baggage section. Not all the types of aircraft provide the sections for weapon transportation. Weapon ammunition are allowed for transportation only at single quantity equipped to the cartridge clip (bandolier, etc.) and packed with the weapon in the metallic container. Container for weapon transportation is provided by the airlines. Airlines have the right to refuse You the weapon transportation because of security measures.

If the airlines change the kind of aircraft and it isn’t equipped for weapon transportation You’ll be refused the weapon transportation (in spite of Your previous agreement and presence of purchased ticket). The refuse by this reason applies in cases when You’re coming back to Ukraine. You’ll have to wait for the aircraft equipped for the weapon transportation.

Standards of free baggage allowance

There are fixed restrictions to weight, size and number of items which the passenger may take with him on the flight.
The standard of free baggage allowance at economy-class is 20 kg, at business class 30 kg and at first class 40 kg.

We advise You to weigh the baggage while planning Your trip if there’re any doubts that the weight will exceed the standards of free baggage allowance. If You baggage exceeds fixed standards You’ll have to pay for each kilogram excess baggage. Additional payment for excess baggage can be made to the airlines office or to it’s authorized agent. The farer is flight the more (usually) is additional payment.
For example: for excess baggage to Barcelona You’ll have to pay around $15 and to Tokyo it will be around $65 for each kilogram of excess baggage.
Maximal sizes (length+ width + height) of each item of baggage must not excess 160 cm. Excess baggage will be transported only if there technical possibilities.

Mentioned standards don’t apply for:
outsized baggage (an item’s weight less than 30 kg or sum of measures excesses 160 cm);
equipment for skiing, golf, or water sports;
TV-sets, recorders or other electrical appliances with weight more than 10 kg;
pets and birds except guide dogs;
flowers, seedlings, food greenery with weight more than 5 kg.

Transportation of the items mentioned above is notified by the passenger in advance at time of purchasing the ticket. It’s also booked and paid separately and it’s produced only at presence of technical possibility, it’s priced by the weight independent of number of other checked passenger’s items of baggage.
On the flights to Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico this standard is two items with the total dimensions (length+width+height) no more than 158 cm and with the weight less than 32 kg.
Immigrant’s fares provide specific standards of baggage allowance. These standards may two-three times excess normal standards.

Carry-on baggage

How many items of carry-on baggage can I take to the cabin?

The carry-on baggage weight must not excess 5 and some times 7 kg. Carry-on baggage must fit to over-head or under the seat bin. As long as the sizes of bins and seats differ on different types of aircrafts, You have to be ready that the airport staff will ask You to check it in to the baggage section.
Restricted items for carry-on baggage  are (!) sharp and cutting items of all sizes (including penknife and travelling knife, manicure scissors, sharp emery boards etc.) WerecommendYoutocheckintheaboveitems.
If they are detected in Your carry on baggage, they may be confiscated by the security service of the carrier.
In excess of the free baggage allowance standards You may also take to the cabin the following:
handbag, purse or folder;
printed matters for reading onboard;
infant food and trip cradles;
umbrella or cane;
coat or cloak;
collapsible wheelchair or/and crutches if such items are necessary for the passenger.

Cabin crew recommends to put the carry-on baggage by the following way:
overclothes and soft items should be put on Your over-head bin;
heavy and unwieldy items should be put under the seat in front of You;
and the most important, don’t leave Your carry-on baggage at the emergency exits and on the passages.


Restricted items

 

According to passenger’s security measures the carrier may deny the baggage carriage.
Passenger may be denied in carriage of such items:
Items that can damage the aircraft, persons or their property on the aircraft board:
high pressure gas (inflammable, uninflammable or poisoned: domestic gas, butane, oxygen, propane, charged containers for scuba diving);
caustics (acids, alkalis, storage batteries, mercury and instruments containing mercury);
explosive items (ammunitions, equipment, pyrotechnics, signal flare, another flares);
highly inflammable liquids and solids (including liquid and container for lighter recharging);
strong-magnetic items.

Items that are prohibited for transportation by the laws, rules and directions of the state authorities of any countries to their territory, from their territory or through it :
radioactive metals;
toxic agents (arsenic, cyanides etc);
infectious materials (bacteria, viral cultures, etc.).

Items that can’t be transported as baggage due to their weight, sizes or other characteristics:
animals (except dogs, cats and other domestic pets that are allowed for transportation only with advanced allowance of the carrier and in case of compliance of certain conditions by passengers in concordance with the rules of such transportation).
For unimpeded transportation of weapon, portable transmission You have to obtain the permission.
Specific baggage, for example, musical instruments, may be transported in the cabin and even in its “own” seat, but then You have to buy a ticket for it.
Important and business documents, passports and other documents, medicine and fragile items, jewelry are recommended for transportation in carry-on baggage.
On the flights to the USA lighters are also prohibited for transportation independent of their filling, price and producer.

Lost or damaged baggage
In case of losing or damaging the baggage or missing something You need to go to "LOST AND FOUND" service of Your airlines before leaving the arrivals and You’ll need to fill in the document about losing or damaging the baggage.
Written claim must be brought to the carrier immediately at the time of  damage detection but no later than in seven days after the baggage receipt.
In case of losing the baggage the claim is sent to the carrier during two years since the arrival day of the plane to the destination.

Transportation of liquids in carry-on baggage
According to flight security international rules any liquids (including gels, pastes etc) which are carried to the cabin must be contained in the packing less than 100 milliliters (1 deciliter). These containers have to be put to one completely transparent plastic bag with the size no more than 1 liter for the following scanning at the aviation security offices in the airports.
Total volume of liquids transported in the carry-on baggage must be no more than 1 liter
You can transport less than 2 liters in the registered baggage in case that these liquids don’t belong to the category of hazardous substances.

Passengers are allowed to bring onboard the liquids bought at the duty-free shops

- in duty-free shops of EU countries
in case that liquids (including gels, pastes etc) brought to the cabin contain in packing no more than 100 milliliters and the total volume of transported liquids is no more than 1 liter.
These items will be packed the way You could easily pass the control of aviation security in any points of EU countries (including Iceland and Norway).
